GPA!!! critical!! for engineering out of state, at leastOct 03 2004Mechanical Engineering
GPA!!! critical!! for engineering out of state, at least a 1300. if you look at the average high school gpa for engineering for class 07, its something like a 3.9 so gpa is important. enjoy those easy high school classes, because u will miss them dearly!
SAT: 1135 Male
I had a pretty bad high school record butSep 11 2004Archaeology
I had a pretty bad high school record but I worked hard at my college and pulled a 4.0. I didn't have any extra curriculars but I did hold down a management position where I worked full time while I took on 18 credit hours. That had to have counted for something. I think the university is more interested in smarts than in performance for transfer students. As long as they can see you're bright and have put forth some effort, you'll get in. I wrote what I thought was the worst essay I've ever written in my life and I still got in. I think my secret weapon were my letters of recommendation (which I believe transfer students don't need but I sent anyway), my GPA, and my ACT results. Although my score wasn't nearly as high as most people at UM, it showed I had potential. They want people with potential, if you already knew it all then you wouldn't need to go to school in the first place. I think admissions understands that.
ACT: 27 Female
If you want to get into Michigan, then applyMay 20 2004Other
If you want to get into Michigan, then apply early before the spots fill up.

If you are from in-state, then you will need good grades in order to be accepted. Follow your gut as to whether or not you attend. (And remember, it's better than going to Michigan State.)

If you are not from Michigan, then you will find it extremely difficult to get into this school; prospective out-of-staters need excellent grades and extracurriculars. My advice to those who live outside of Michigan: don't apply. Even if you get in, it's not worth it.
ACT: 31 Male

I am intelligentMar 21 2004Psychology
I am intelligent. Is your IQ high? Prove it to Michigan. If your grades were lacking, Michigan doesn't care. It is looking for SMART people. Busy workers, you will get in, but trust me, you will BE HATED AND LAUGHED AT because you are not intelligent realistically.
